Admission & Financial Aid

The college processes scholarships and financial aid programmes offered by Govt. of the Punjab. The detail of the programmes is given below.

a) PEEF Scholarship

The Punjab Educational Endowment Fund (PEEF) is an initiative of the Government of Punjab; and it is registered under section 42 of the Companies Ordinance, 1984.The Punjab Educational Endowment Fund is established with the objective of providing scholarships/mercenary assistance to needy and talented students for pursuing quality education with equal opportunities. PEEF endeavors to bring best educational opportunities to the less privileged and talented youth of Punjab, and bring them at par with the most fortunate ones.

PEEF has allocated 20% of the total scholarship to Special Quota Category (SQS). The criterion for award of SQS is given below.

Scholarships are awarded under following four (4) categories:

  • Orphans Children of government servants in BPS 1 – 4 (children of both serving and retired Govt. servants are eligible)
  • Children belonging to minority religion
  • Special Children
  • Guardian of students earning less than 15000/- per month.

b) MORA Scholarship

Mora scholarship is offered to needy students of this college and it is processed by Ministry of Religious Affairs, Govt. of Pakistan.

c) REHMATUL-LIL-ALAMEEN SCHOLARSHIPS

Govt. of the Punjab through Punjab higher education department annually announces rehmatul-lil-alameen scholarships for deserving students of inter and BS levels. the govt. provides handsome stipend to the students.

d) FEE WAIVER FOR TEACHERS' SONS

Teacher’s son must produce a certificate issued by the Headmaster of High School if the applicant’s father is High School teacher and from Assistant Education Officer in case of primary school teacher; the certificate must contain the statement to the effect that he is the bona fides son of a Govt. School Teacher. Tuition fee is fully waived off for the 1st male child, 50% waiver will be for the 2nd and so on. Only non- gazette teacher’s son can apply for this fee waiver programme.

e) CONCESSIONS, SCHOLARSHIPS AND FEE WAIVERS FOR OTHER CATEGORIES

  • There is full fee concession for the students who have sought admission on Hafiz- e- Quran basis.
  •  Red Crescent (Hilal- e- Ahmer) financial aid programme is also available for deserving student.
  • There are special scholarships and financial aid programmes for the poor and the needy students. It is determined by the college authority on the directions and availability of the funds provided by the Govt. of the Punjab

f) INTERNATIONAL ORIENTATION UNDER STEM CAREER PROGRAMME

The students can participate in the International Olympiad which is held annually at a volatile venue. STEM Careers Program is a Golden Opportunity for students to Join Pakistan Olympiad Teams. In STEM Programmes students can also receive cash prizes and Certificates and BS Admissions without Entry exam. Through this programme the students will be able to interact with the highly brilliant students of the world and specifically of Pakistan. STEM Career programme is a joint venture of Higher Education Commission (HEC) and Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS). Information regarding the procedure for submission of the forms for the STEM Programme is displayed at the College Notice Board once in a year.

g) UNITED STATES EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION OF PAKISTAN (USEFP) SCHOLARSHIPS

USEFP is a platform that helps Pakistani students fulfill their dreams of studying in the United States. Through unique educational and cultural exchange programs, USEFP provides opportunities to Pakistanis to study, research, and engage with international students, scholars, and professionals in the United States. Today, thousands of our alumni are finding solutions to shared global concerns and gaining leadership expertise to advance Pakistan’s development.

h) GLOBAL UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM (UGRAD) SCHOLARSHIPS OFFERED BY USEFP

In 2010, the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program – Pakistan (Global UGRAD-Pakistan) was launched by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) of the United States Department of State. The program in Pakistan is administered by the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) and in the United States by the International Research & Exchanges Board (IREX). Within a short life-span, the Global UGRAD has gained immense popularity among the Pakistani university going students. With the first batch of 100 fellows of the 2010-11 Global UGRAD-Pakistan returned to Pakistan to complete their undergraduate degrees at Pakistani universities.

The Global UGRAD program is designed to award undergraduate Pakistani students enrolled at a university in Pakistan. The Global UGRAD-Pakistan program offers cultural/academic exchange through a non-degree program for a semester at a university in the U.S.

Applicants of this program are required to be in either their 14th or 15th year of formal education.

Students enrolled in either, a four-year bachelor’s program or a two-year bachelor’s programs are eligible to apply.

i) FULBRIGHT DEGREE PROGRAMME, PROCESSED BY USEFP

The Fulbright Master’s and PhD Program funds graduate study in the United States. Funded by the United States Department of State, these grants cover tuition, required textbooks, airfare, a living stipend, and health insurance. USEFP also assists with the visa process.

For the Master’s degree program, eligible candidates will have either a four-year Bachelor’s degree or a Bachelor’s and Master’s combination totaling 16 years of formal education from an accredited university. Recent graduates are strongly encouraged to apply, except for MBA and Public Policy/Administration applicants, who require 2 years of work experience.

For the PhD degree program, eligible applicants will have a Master’s, M.Phil or comparable degree (a minimum of 18 years of formal education) from an accredited university. It is highly desirable that candidates have work experience in teaching, research, or the public sector in Pakistan.

Eligibility Criteria:

For both the Master’s and PhD programs, all academic disciplines are eligible, except clinical medicine. The Graduate Record Examination (GRE General) is required for all applicants. Under the new scoring system, minimum scores of 138 in the verbal and 136 in the quantitative sections are required. Applicants must also possess a high level of fluency in spoken and written English. The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) will be required from all the selected candidates.

All successful candidates are required to sign a contract with USEFP and, for successful PhD candidates, a bond with the HEC that binds them to return to Pakistan immediately after their program in the U.S. and serve the country for the number of years equivalent to the length of their scholarship program. This contract is redeemable on a year-for-year basis minimum of two years; as long as a person fulfills the service requirement, he or she will pay nothing.

Applications are accepted each year in February and the deadline to submit application is around May. The application review and interview process continue until September and the results are announced in mid-October. After selection, the university submission and placement process continue until February and visa interviews take place until June. The departure to the U.S. commences in July and onwards, depending on the universities reporting dates.

Pakistani citizens, residing and working in Pakistan, with strong academic histories in all disciplines except clinical medicine are welcome to apply.

In addition to academic work, persons selected for Fulbright programs are expected to share information about Pakistani life and culture with their U.S. colleagues and with community groups in the U.S. On returning to Pakistan, Fulbright grantees are expected to share their U.S. experiences with colleagues and community groups in Pakistan. Successful candidates should be poised to assume leadership positions in their fields and must be committed to returning and serving Pakistan.

Ineligibility:

  1. Persons with a dual U.S./Pakistan nationality or those having a spouse, parent, fiancé or child over 18 years of age who is a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  2. Employees of the Fulbright organization or the U.S. Department of State and their spouses, fiancés, siblings, dependents, children and parents. For programs funded by their agencies, employees of USAID or the HEC and their spouses, fiancés, siblings, dependents, children and parents.
  • As a general matter, preference for Fulbright student opportunities will be given to candidates who have not previously received a Fulbright student grant.
  1. Persons already studying in the U.S. or on a work/residence visa in any country.

Note:

No student can avail two scholarship and financial aid programmes in one session. The student who flunked in the final examination his right to scholarship or aid shall stand forfeited.
